About Baghdad

Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, is one of the most historically significant cities in the world. Founded in the 8th century by the Abbasid Caliph Al-Mansur, it became a major center of learning, culture, and commerce during the Islamic Golden Age. Known for its vast libraries and scholars, Baghdad was home to the famous House of Wisdom, where scholars from different cultures and faiths studied and translated works of philosophy, science, and literature.

The city, situated along the Tigris River, has witnessed numerous conquests and destructions over the centuries, from the Mongol invasion in the 13th century to the wars and conflicts of modern times. In recent years, it has faced challenges due to political instability and conflict, particularly following the 2003 Iraq War. However, despite these challenges, Baghdad remains a symbol of resilience, with efforts to rebuild and restore its cultural heritage and infrastructure. Today, it is the largest city in Iraq and continues to be an important hub for politics, culture, and education in the region.
